Between August 2007 and April 2008 the New Deal team has helped over 90 people into employment and over 80 people into placements.

The nextstep Into Work programme (which ended in March 2008) did exceptionally well with over 100 people engaged and being supported in finding employment, of which at least 23 have secured and found work within their chosen field.

Our In the Community team has delivered a childcare course in Strelley, two in The Meadows, two in St. Ann’s and three in Bilborough. Out of the 42 learners who started the CACHE Level 1 course before the summer holidays, 10 learners went on to take part in the NVQ Level 2 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development.

Our award winning Advice and Guidance team go from strength to strength: Tamsin Yates and Stuart Young have achieved their Level 3 NVQ in Advice and Guidance, and Clair Crofts has achieved her Level 4 NVQ in Advice and Guidance. Vicky Clarke, Samantha Norton and Ryan Justin have signed up for the Level 3 NVQ in Advice and Guidance through Adult Learner Accounts, and Mark McGraw is working towards his Level 4 award.

The learndirect learners had a magnificent May with 30 students achieving their first Skills for Life qualification in Numeracy or Literacy. The freak weather in June sadly knocked out City and Guilds' systems meaning we had to cancel 2 weeks worth of test sessions. Despite this setback 12 learners managed to achieve their first Skills for Life qualification.

The NVQ delivery teams were running at full tilt in June with the Childcare team leading the way with 18 learners achieving an NVQ in Children's Care Learning and Development. In October our Advice and Guidance NVQ achieved Direct Claims Status following a very successful verifier's visit - we were graded in the 'A' range on every aspect of our delivery.
