Care Training East Midlands (CTEM) hosted the Care First Lunch Event to introduce the Care First Careers programme. Guests included Jobcentre Plus advisers and local employers.
The Care First Careers programme is designed for people looking to work in the care industry to support adults in everyday activities and to enable them to do the things many of us take for granted. To be eligible for the Care First Careers programme learners must be aged 18–24 and claiming Jobseekers Allowance for 6–12 months.
The event provided the opportunity for Jobcentre Plus advisers to speak to successful learners from the programme along with gaining an insight in the various careers available in care. Employers could see how the Care First Careers programme benefits the care sector and hear more about the free recruitment service CTEM offer.
The event consisted of presentations from past learners who had received training through CTEM and had found employment. Representatives from Partnerships in Care and Allied Heathcare gave presentations on how CTEM met their recruitment needs and the different careers available in their organisations.
If you were not able to attend the event and would like more information on Care First Careers, or are looking to recruit a trained member of staff, please call the course enquiries team on
