On the 21 May 2009 Care Training East Midlands (CTEM) and Partnerships in Care delivered a day long jobs fair in order to meet the recruitment and training needs of two sites managed by the largest provider of secure mental health facilities in the country.

The Partnerships in Care Jobs Fair was held in Alfreton at the Genesis Family Centre, a location that suited the two mental health facilities in need of staff.

CTEM is a regular supporter of jobs fairs delivered by other organisations such as Jobcentre Plus and in the past have delivered their own jobs fairs in Nottingham.

Recruiting from the Derbyshire area was certainly a new challenge. Partnerships in Care is also a very unique organisation to provide recruitment support for, as their service users have unique needs that vary greatly from the care provided in an elderly care home for example.

There was some apprehension before the jobs fair. However the day itself proved extremely successful.

114 calls were generated as a result of the promotion of the jobs fair and 102 potential applicants attended the day itself. Staff members from Partnerships in Care spoke to all attendees. 11 people that attended on the day were offered a job and a further 18 people were selected to access the pre-employment training delivered by CTEM. With a steady stream of applicants the day was hugely successful and exhausting!

A final 14 individuals completed the pre-employment training delivered by CTEM and 7 candidates have been offered a full time contract of employment as health care workers at Partnerships in Care.

The event also helped them recruit for a receptionist, housekeeping staff, a chef, catering assistants, occupational therapy assistant and qualified staff nurses.

Congratulations to all those that have achieved work in their dream job!

“Today has been superb… I don’t have a single complaint.”
Martin, Nursing Recruitment Manager, Partnerships in Care.

Many thanks to Partnerships in Care for working in partnership with us!
