Childcare NVQ Awards

The NVQ awards on the 27th of September were a huge triumph for all involved.

The evening was informal in nature and very well attended.

In preparation for the evening, a teaching room was converted creating an improvised stage with rows of chairs in front. The decorations highlighted the sense of achievement in the room as people began to arrive.

As well as NVQ completers, family and friends were invited so attendees were mixed.

As people began to arrive, the close bond between the achievers and NVQ assessors became apparent.

Many hadn’t seen their assessor for some time, as once an NVQ has been completed it can take some time for paper work to be processed.

In order to achieve the NVQ itself a huge amount of dedication and time is required, encouraging the bond between assessor and trainee.

Geraldine Chaffe kicked off the formal part of the evening with a short presentation about the Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership (EYDCP) department of Nottingham City Council.

Geraldine talked about her admiration for the achievers and the dedication of Care Training’s hard-working NVQ assessors.

Rita Ford (Managing Director of Care Training) then began the presentation of certificates.

Each achiever received huge applause along with photos with family and Geraldine. Finally, Care Training presented the NVQ assessors Doreen, Louise, Nessie and Jeannie with bouquets of flowers as a thank you for their diligence and perseverance.

Attendees were then invited into the learning centre to take advantage of the food and wine on offer. The little ones invited enjoyed the use of the internet and achievers took the opportunity to chat about experiences and current working situations.

On leaving there were hugs and one or two tears, as achievers and assessors realised this would probably be the last time they would see each other...
until their next NVQ qualification obviously!
