Apprenticeships
- Work-based – as a learner you will be working and paid by an employer.
- Recognised qualifications – you will also complete training at work and gain recognised QCF qualifications as well as Functional Skills.
- Get ahead – apprentices often move up the ranks of a company significantly more quickly.
- No prior qualifications needed – you need a certain level of English but other basic skills support can be embedded into the training.
- Enrol anytime – we don’t have term times and have start dates nearly every month.
What is an Apprenticeship?
As well as completing training an apprentice works for around 30 hours a week in a role suitable to their training. The employer needs to pay them at least the minimum Apprenticeship wage (click here for details of UK minimum wages).
Getting an Apprenticeship is the same as getting a job. If your application is successful you will be interviewed. You’ll need to sell yourself and convince the employer that an Apprenticeship is right for you.
How long does it take?
You can learn at your own pace (within reason), though the Intermediate Level usually takes about 15 months and the Advanced Level takes about a year and a half.
Where does training take place?
Training and assessment takes place in the workplace.
How much does it cost?
Funding is available if the learner is a British/EU Citizen or has lived in the UK for three years or more (and has been given the right to remain).
For those aged 16–18 all training on the Apprenticeship is fully-funded, so they don't need to pay any course fees.
Those who are 19 years old or over could receive funding to cover 50% of the course fees.
