Anna Marie Dixon from Wollaton had been unemployed for a substantial period of time when she came to Care Training. With two small children Anna Marie felt very unsure about her career and what would be the best course for herself and her family.
Career advisors soon discovered that Anna Marie had a caring and determined attitude and that a career in Health and Social Care would be the perfect step for her. Firstly Anna Marie completed an introductory programme in Health and Social Care. This gave her a huge boost of confidence and with the help of career advisers she applied for a job with Mencap and was successful.
As part of her development Anna Marie began her NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. She continues to excel and with her determination and positive attitude is an inspiration to fellow students. Anna Marie is well on her way to completing her NVQ qualification which has already secured her a promotion with Mencap.
In her fifth month working for Mencap Anna Marie says, “I am really enjoying my job, I’ve gained so many new skills. I can fit my NVQ training around my children which is great”. Without the funding, this would never have been possible.
