Cedric came to Care Training East Midlands (CTEM) after being made redundant from his job.

Cedric wanted a change of career. He felt, “I wanted a career instead of just a job”. He was recommended to visit CTEM by his Jobcentre Plus Adviser.

He had the opportunity to discuss what career he wanted with one of CTEM’s expert advisers. They also discussed qualifications that he could access.

CTEM offered Cedric the opportunity to volunteer within the learndirect centre to complete the NVQ Level 2 in Business & Administration. To complete an NVQ you must be in paid employment for a minimum of 16 hours per week or volunteering a minimum of 8 hours a week.

After completing the NVQ, Cedric found full-time work as an administrator at the ATCT Aspley Community Centre, achieving his career goal.
