Care Training East Midlands has been working with Lesley Gearing (who runs a support network for parents and carers at Seeley Infant School) to support parents and carers to achieve qualifications in adult literacy and numeracy.
Andrew had been unemployed for a while and wanted something to increase his appeal to employers. After completing Certificates in Adult Literacy and Numeracy with Learndirect (which helped his confidence and added to his CV) he now has a job he enjoys.
Before coming to Care Training East Midlands, Sean lacked confidence and would only apply for low skilled jobs that didn’t require qualifications. Now he has Level 2 Certificates in Adult Literacy and Numeracy, as well as Health & Safety and Customer Service.
British businesses lose an estimated £2.3 billion a year due to a lack of Literacy and numeracy skills within their workforce. We are working with National Autoparts to get their staff up to Level 2 in Adult Literacy and Numeracy.
Louise Grant, an employee at Care Training East Midlands, had struggled with maths at school. She thought, "it was something I’d never be able to do so I just had to deal with it". Now she has achieved her Level 2 Certificate in Adult Numeracy.
