Michaela Clemenson
Care Home Manager

Back in 2004 Michaela Clemenson was unemployed and looking after her daughter as a lone parent. She found herself desperate to get out of the house and into a job she enjoyed.

After meeting with her Station Street Jobcentre Plus Adviser Kam, Michaela was referred to Care Training on New Deal Health & Social Care for Lone Parents. It did not take long for her tutors to recognise her potential and determined personality.

Michaela’s confidence and passion to work in Care grew as she completed qualifications in Food Hygiene, Moving & Handling and Health & Safety. She also conquered her long term struggle with Literacy and Numeracy and gained her Level 2 qualifications.

Michaela’s career began when Linda, the manager of Mappleton House Care Home, visited Care Training to give a talk to our New Deal customers. Linda saw Michaela’s enthusiasm and offered her a placement as a Care Assistant.

Three years and lots of hard work later, determined Michaela became the Manager of Mappleton House. Care Training kept in touch with Michaela and were recently delighted when she requested to be a guest speaker for current New Deal customers.

Michaela is a fantastic role model, she is proof that you can change your life and make an incredible difference to others. Mappleton House will also be conducting a recruitment drive, aiming to give New Deal customers the same start she had.
