Dominic Mills, aged 19 from Derby
Dominic had been at college studying engineering, but decided health and social care would be a better route into sustainable employment. After completing pre-employment training at CTEM in Derby he now works at Elvaston Lodge.

After completing security training at CTEM Bobby secured employment in hospitality at the restaurant in East Midlands Airport. He will also be trained in airport security as part of his job.

Natasha used to be a full time mum. When her son was able to start nursery she decided to go on a pre-employment training programme with CTEM. She now works for East Midlands Airport as a customer service assistant in their restaurant.

Gavin was made redundant last autumn. His self-esteem was hit again when he failed a written entrance test to become a bus driver for NCT. But after receiving support from Care Training's Skills for Jobs programme, he re-took his entrance test and passed with flying colours.

Before coming to Care Training East Midlands, Sean lacked confidence and would only apply for low skilled jobs that didn’t require qualifications. Now he has Level 2 Certificates in Adult Literacy and Numeracy, as well as Health & Safety and Customer Service.

Before coming to Care Training East Midlands, Marie Henrys was a full time mum to her two girls, now aged 10 and five. After completing the New Deal Business Administration Programme for Lone Parents she is now completing a work trial at Central Skills, acting as Tutor Support to the Literacy and Numeracy Tutor at Central Skills.

Mandy Challis
After bringing up her own children Mandy was aware that she had the skills needed to work in childcare, but was unqualified to do so. She opted for the Children First Program, after which she was offered the opportunity to complete an NVQ Level 2 in Children’s Care, Learning & Development.
